Monika Langarica is a staff attorney with the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of San Diego and Imperial Counties, specializing in immigrants’ rights. She engages in litigation and policy work and monitors local law enforcement agencies’ compliance with immigration-related state laws. Before joining the ACLU, Monika was a senior staff attorney at the American Bar Association’s Immigration Justice Project in San Diego, where she represented individuals in Immigration Court and Superior Court and dealt with a bevy of federal agencies, including ICE. Earlier, she served as an Equal Justice Works Fellow at Centro Legal de la Raza in Oakland and worked for three Public Defender offices. Monika is a graduate UC Berkeley Law School and graduated cum laude from the University of Southern California with honors for her work in American Studies & Ethnicity and Political Science.
