APALSA at UCI is honored and proud to welcome Dale Minami to speak to our UCI Law community. A highly accomplished and renowned lawyer in many regards, Dale is arguably best known for leading the team that reopened Korematsu v. United States. This monumental case led to the overturning of Fred Korematsu's criminal conviction for defying Japanese internment during World War II. In addition to other landmark decisions, Dale's distinguished career includes community and policy work. He helped establish the Asian Law Caucus, the Asian American Bar Association of the Greater Bay Area, and the Asian American Legal Defense and Education Fund. Furthermore, Dale has served as Chair of the Civil Liberties Public Education Fund, member of the California Fair Employment and Housing Commission, and Commissioner on Senator Barbara Boxer's Judicial Screening Committee.
